Welcome to the 2gee Motorsport website
Created just for information the 2gee Motorsport website provides a brief overview of the cars and activities undertaken by the owner (2gee Motorsport) and those planned for the future. Currently there are two cars involved, both Vauxhall Corsa's, which have been modified and developed in partnership with Thorney Motorsport. 255bhp Corsa VXR Racing
The Corsa VXR Racing is one of a total of 888 vehicles to be built by Vauxhall to celebrate their racing success in BTCC. This Corsa VXR Racing edition has the colour scheme to replicate that of the BTCC racing cars livery
Although the standard VXR Racing spec is pretty impressive (189bhp/170lbft) it was inevitable that more power and performance would be desired. This is where Thorney Motorsport came in. Thorney Motorsport are one of the UK's largest Vauxhall Tuning companies as well as running one of the UK's largest specialist track and race preparation operations. Using their considerable expertise and experience in racing Corsas the Corsa VXR Racing was transformed mechanically so that it now outputs 255bhp @6335rpm with 281ftlb @3415rpm. To achieve this level of power/torque reliably and efficiently has involved the following mods ...
- Stage 3 ECU remap
- High capacity fuel injectors
- Large front mounted intercooler
- ITG air panel filter
- Quaife ATB (Automatic Torque Biasing (QDF25B) LSD
- Bilstein B14's - front and rear
- AP Racing front ventilated disc brakes - 343mm diameter
- Earl braided hoses - front and rear
- Full race TMS stainless steel exhaust system
- Black Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2S 18" wheels with 225/35ZR 18 tyres
The upgrades made to both the chassis, braking and transmission ensures that there's no trouble once it gets twisty out on the road or track!

400bhp Corsa SRI Race Car
Fast as the Corsa VXR Racing is more was still wanted. The quest to achieve 300+ bhp led to further discussions with Thorney Motorsport as to the options available.
Sticking with the Corsa VXR Racing engine (Z16LER) would require a bottom end and turbo upgrade, all possible but resulting in a more highly stressed engine.
Another option, proposed by Thorney Motorsport, would be to replace the Corsa VXR engine (Z16LER) with the Astra VXR engine (Z20LEH). With the mods already carried out on the 2gee Motorsport Corsa VXR Racing power/torque figures of 300bhp/340ftlbs would be immediately available from the Astra VXR engine (with a suitable remap) in it's standard specification. However, the exciting part of this option was that by further modifying the Astra VXR engine (upgraded turbo - GT28, equal length exhaust manifold, uprated pistons & rods and uprated injectors etc.) it would be possible to achieve at least 400+ bhp.
Initially the plan was to carry out the Astra VXR engine conversion on the Corsa VXR Racing but it soon became apparent that the best way forward, both technically and commercially, would be to complete the whole engine conversion in the TMS Corsa race car (originally to be used for a dry run for the engine installation). Consequently this car was purchased from Thorney and the conversion started in earnest.
The race car in question is a Corsa SRI-R, first registered in 2008. It was originally purchased by Thorney Motorsport (TMS) and successfully competed in the Dunlop SportMaxx Championship, with back to back class wins and an overall championship win under its belt.
Details of the complete 400bhp Corsa / Astra VXR engine conversion can be found here or for full details of the 2gee Motorsport Corsa SRI race car as it develops visit the website at www.corsaracecar.co.uk.
As of 22 December 2011 the Astra VXR engine conversion project on the Corsa race car is ongoing with anticipated completion by end January 2012.
The Corsa VXR Racing upgrade programme is all but finished - the shocks have been changed out for Bilstein B14 units to give ride height adjustment and a firmer ride.
More pages and details will be added to this website once the Corsa race car is fully tested and participates in track days/ show events etc.
Make sure you check out our blog for regular updates on both the Corsa race car and VXR Racing.
